What is PhysiApp and how can it improve my health?

At Elemental Health, we pride ourselves in offering our patients the latest methodologies to enhance your healthcare and help you achieve your health outcomes.

Our Osteopath, Vanessa Malone, has a new Exercise Program App, called PhysiApp that she can use to create customised rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise and stretching programs tailored to your specific goals and needs.

Whether it’s supporting your osteopathic treatments to help manage acute or chronic musculoskeletal issues or by just using it to help general mobility and musculoskeletal health.

The aim is to help you take more control and rely less on interventions.

Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health but sometimes it’s difficult to know where to start. Also, if exercise has never been part of your life before, it can be especially overwhelming. As well as these barriers, finding time to fit it in to our busy lifestyles can be even more challenging.

PhysiApp lets you complete your prescribed rehab, exercise or stretch program by following easy crystal-clear, narrated exercise videos.  This can be done in the convenience of your home or you can be prescribed a program to do at the gym.

Current research is continuing to highlight the benefits of  exercise for its role in all of the following:

  • strengthening bone and muscle tissue
  • reducing pain, stiffness and inflammation
  • improving joint function
  • improving posture
  • improving balance and agility
  • increasing mood
  • decreasing stress
  • reducing the risk of many diseases
  • brain health
  • helping to manage weight
  • generally improving our quality of life

PhysiApp is completely free to download from the App store and Google Play so it can be accessed on your smart phone or tablet, or, if you prefer, it can also be accessed via the browser on your computer.

You can set up built-in reminders to help you to stay on track and you can report back directly (in-app) on your progress, give feedback or ask questions. You can also download the content so that it can be used offline or you can print out PDFs if you prefer a hard printed copy.

If you are interested, you will need an Initial assessment with Vanessa in the clinic.  She will discuss your goals and do a structural assessment to determine your mobility and strength and then she will design a program and timeline for you. This can be as little or as extensive as you wish in order to fit in with your lifestyle and needs. You will receive the programme with an access code via email in order to log in.

Further consultations, modifications or changes to the exercises may be done in clinic or via phone or telehealth.

Vanessa also has a level 3 in Ergonomic Assessment. So if you need to check your home or work workspaces this can be done via telehealth. Sometimes small changes to your equipment can make huge differences. You don’t always have to fork out massive amounts to make your workstations more functional and comfortable.
