Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy for Babies

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a very gentle and profound hands-on bodywork therapy that is immensely useful for the treatment of newborns, infants and toddlers. BCST engages with the rhythm of the nervous system and utilises that rhythm diagnostically and therapeutically. This process makes it possible to identify restrictive patterns held within the body and to gently lead those restrictions towards resolution.

BCST engages with a wide range of issues that might be affecting thriving development in newborns and infants due to foetal positioning in utero and/or birth trauma. A range of symptomatic expressions such as:

·       Excessive vomiting

·       Head shape issues (plagiocephaly)

·       Ineffective latch

·       Eye alignment/convergence

·       Ear alignment/position

·       Swallowing or breathing problems

·       Torticollis

·       Frequent crying without apparent reason

·       Colic

·       Restless sleep

can be due to structural tension patterns established within utero or triggered during a demanding birth process. These experiences can set up early habitual patterning held within the nervous system.

BCST engages with these patterns with a very gentle and non-invasive approach that is grounded in deep and sensitive listening to the baby’s experience and needs. The treatment process always actively includes and utilises the presence of the parent/s and/or carer and can be resourcing for the entire family.

BCST treatment as soon as possible after the birth event is highly recommended as the newborn and infant can be very effectively supported to entirely resolve these early patterns. Unresolved birth patterns held within the nervous system and/or the structure of the physical body can lead to

·       Concentration problems

·       Sleeping problems

·       Recurrent ear, sinus or respiratory tract infections

·       Scoliosis

·       Digestive disorders

·       Issues with literary skills problems

·       Excessive aggression

in toddlers and preschoolers.
